This project in Calgary’s northwest combines a three-storey detached infill with a garage-top backyard suite, adding density to a tight inner-city lot while keeping a familiar residential scale. Designed in compliance with the Heritage Guidelines for the area, the house balances contemporary form with contextual sensitivity.

The main home stretches across three above-grade levels plus a developed basement. Open-plan living, kitchen, and dining spaces anchor the main floor, with bedrooms and a loft retreat stacked above. A rooftop patio extends the top level outdoors, capturing views over the neighborhood.

The basement includes a recreation area and future bar and bath rough-ins, while the garage below the suite provides two off-lane parking stalls. The backyard suite adds a compact one-bedroom rental with its own kitchen, living space, and private amenity area — a self-contained home that supports flexible urban living.

The exterior palette mixes stucco, brick, Nort wood, and black ACM panels for a crisp, contemporary look. Pergolas, decks, and landscaped planters soften the building edges, tying the main house and suite into the site.
